2010
- Renovations -- Renovations to the Chase Building are proceeding well, with few disruptions expected after classes start. The Department Office has moved back to the 2nd floor.
- Mathematics Columns -- Jason Brown's monthly columns in the Chronicle Herald can be found on this site under "Community Activities".
- The Chase Report -- This year's annual department newsletter is now available on-line.
- Renovations -- Due to noisy renovations to the outside wall of the Chase Building by workers with a licence to drill, the Department Office has moved to the basement, Room 007.

- Math League -- The Nova Scotia Provincial Finals will take place in the Chase Building on Sat., April 24.

- Public Reading, Musical Performance -- In conjunction with the shortlisting of his book "Our Days Are Numbered" for an Atlantic Book Award, Dr. Jason Brown will give a public reading/musical performance on Monday, April 12, 7:00 - 8:00 pm at the Company House, 2202 Gottingen St. He will be accompanied by Sageev Oore of "Gypsophilia", an alumnus of this department.
- Mathematics Predicted Gold -- Local hero Sydney Crosby and comedian Shaun Majumder doing some arithmetic gymnastics, predicting Olympic gold before it happened.
- Math Circles -- Next event: Wednesday, March 10, 5:30-7:30. Topic: Tessellations -- Artistic and Mathematical. Led by Dr. Dorette Pronk.

- John Lennon and Mathematics -- On Dec. 8, the anniversary of John Lennon's death, an Interview with Dr. Jason Brown was published in the "National Post"

- Dal Teams Win Big -- The two Dalhousie teams consisting of Victor Guo & Ethan Macaulay and Fred Sy & Wei Dan won 1st and 3rd place, respectively, at the APICS math. competition, Oct. 23.
- Math Camps --
July 5-10: The Department hosted two math camps:
The BEA Math Camp for 30 junior high school students.

- Awards Ceremony -- Thursday, May 21, 2:30. Various student awards will be handed out during a ceremony in the Student Resource Centre. Refreshments served at 2:00 p.m.

was officially launched in the Student Resource Centre, along with live music.

- "A Hard Day's Night" -- On Oct. 28 the Chronicle Herald published a front-page article about Dr. Jason Brown's research on a famous Beatles chord. An earlier article, "Sherlock of Rock" appeared in DalNews.

- Distinguished Lecture Series - "Mathemagics" by Dr. Arthur Benjamin of Harvey Mudd College. Monday, May 12, 2008.
- The third international conference on "Groups of
Self-Homotopy Equivalences and Related Topics" will be held at
Dalhousie, from Sunday, June 29 to Saturday, July 5, 2008.
