Arriving at the Standard Ellipse Equation through an Example

From your explorations, you now know that Ax2 + By2 = P is the equation of an ellipse centred at the origin when A, B and P all have the same sign.
How could the equation Ax2 + By2 = P be used to describe the characteristics of a graph of an ellipse?
The following activities will show you how to rewrite an equation of the form Ax2 + By2 = P into a form that will give you more information about the graph of the ellipse.
The following two ellipses will be used in your exploration.

4x2 + 25y2 = 100
16x2 + 9y2 = 225
