Recognizing the Graphs of Equations in Standard Form

You have now learned that an equation written in standard form provides a lot of information about its graph.
An equation in standard form tells whether its graph is a circle, ellipse, hyperbola, parabola, line, point or an empty set.
It also gives important information about the location and shape of the conic section it represents.
Before you begin solving systems of equations it is useful to be able to recognize when various quadratic equations represent a conic section and which conic section it will be.
Use the questions below to refresh your memory and see if you can identify conic sections given their equation.
