Strategies for Solving Quadratic Systems of Equations

NOTE: You have seen pages that looks just like this one before, but don't worry, these pages aren't the same. The previous ones described how to solve linear-linear systems of equations and linear-quadratic systems of equations. This page describes how to solve quadratic-quadratic systems of equations.
In previous math courses you learned that systems of equations can be solved algebraically by comparison, elimination, or substitution.
The following examples show how quadratic-quadratic systems of equations can be solved by all three strategies.

Note that each situation calls for its own strategy, and each person prefers a different method. It is up to you to choose which algebraic method, or combination of methods you use for each problem.
