Strategies for Solving Linear-Linear Systems of Equations Algebraically:
Comparison, Elimination, and Substitution

In previous math courses you learned that systems of equations can be solved algebraically by comparison, elimination, or substitution.
The following examples show how linear-linear systems of equations can be solved by all three strategies.


Note that each situation calls for its own strategy, and each person prefers a different method. It is up to you to choose which algebraic method, or combination of methods you use for each problem.
