This meeting is a continuation of five previous annual workshops focusing on
the interplay between commutative algebra (particularly, resolutions and inverse

groups). Links to the previous workshops can be found here .
Dates:
Talks will run from
Friday, January 16 through Sunday, January
18, inclusive.
Schedule & Location:
The talks will start Friday afternoon
and will end on Sunday by noon. The talks will take place on the
campus of Memorial University. The first meeting at 2 p.m., in Henrietta Harvey
Building (Department of Mathematics and Statistics), room HH-2010
(Atlantic Algebra Centre). From there we move to a lecture room (to
be announced later). The minivans will depart from The Quality Inn at

Local Information:
Accommodations: Reservations will be made for all participants at
Quality Hotel
Harbourview.
Airport Transportation: A taxi to the hotel should cost anywhere from
$15 to $25. On arrival you can go to Ground Transportation Desk and
ask for Coop Taxi (this company will help us with daily
transportation). You may also call 709-753-5100. Then wait outside
for taxi and when the taxi arrives request a ride to Quality Inn. One
can also go by City Wide Taxi but those charge much more ($20 per
person +$2.50 for additional passenger).
Local transportation: We will organize the delivery of people from the
hotel to MUN. The price of taxi from Quality Inn to Math Building on
Elizabeth Avenue (you may also say Arts and Administration building on
Elizabeth avenue) is $11 - 12. One may also use metrobus, but the
buses are rare, the routs are long and you do not save much,
especially if 2 - 4 people travel together. The web site of metrobus
is here.
The arranged minivans for the conference will depart from Quality
Hotel at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2009. The map of St. John's
campus of MUN is available
here.
Conference Dinner & Restaurants: Conference dinner will be on Saturday
at 6:30 - 7 p.m. We will meet in the lobby of Quality Hotel. There will be a
contribution from the Organizing Committee towards the cost of this
dinner. Most restaurants are on Water Street and Duckworth Street
(both start near Quality in and go westwards, for details see
the
guide. A nice place to go on Friday night is a rather new
museum The Rooms with a great
St. John's Harbour view. It has an art gallery and a restaurant.
