Research  Workshop

The Atlantic Association for Research in the Mathematical Sciences

(AARMS)

Graphs-and-Games Collaborative Research Group

will host a workshop July 30-31st 2014

at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia

This 2-day workshop will focus on student engagement.  Students will be given an opportunity to present their completed or in-progress combinatorial research projects and all participants will be challenged to combine their skill sets in (open-) problem sessions facilitated by Dr. Danny Dyer (MUN).  These sessions will introduce participants to some interesting research problems and will provide participants an opportunity to work intensively on these problems in small groups.

All interested undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and faculty are welcome to attend.

Registration is free and some travel support is available.  To register, please email mmessinger@mta.ca or sfinbow@stfx.ca with the following information:

(a) your name,

(b) institution,

(c) whether you are an undergraduate student, a graduate student, or a faculty member,

(d) a tentative title of your talk (talks will be 15 minutes in length, with 5 additional minutes for questions)

(e) whether you are seeking travel support.

When registering, it is important to indicate whether you are seeking travel support.  Travel support may include things such as gas, car rental fee, airfare, bus fare, and / or accommodation if staying in a dorm room in residence.  Participants will be responsible for paying for their own meal: food costs will not be included in travel support.

For those interested in staying on campus, single dorm rooms are available at a rate of $40 / night + HST.  The complete list of rates is given below (and note that a "single guest room" differs from a "single dorm room".  For more information or to book accommodations, please go to: http://www.sites.stfx.ca/conference_services/planning/accommodations
