Introducing the General Conic Equation

You have now seen how each of the conic sections and degenerate conics can be described geometrically by slicing the double-napped cone.
The conic sections and degenerate conics can also be described algebraically by the general equation Ax² + By² + Cx + Dy + F = 0.
